Isabeau D'Arbanville
This weeks brief

The office has been filled with the lovely smell of lilacs, irises and lavender over the past few weeks. Esther Rockwell from Rockwell Home Location Services has been sending updates to the Leawater family on a
regular basis. You have spoken to Cricket and Foster Leawater on the phone and they are excited about their new home. The Leawater family has been busy packing and getting ready to move. They have visited the house to peek in the windows and like what they see. The flowers are from Mrs. Leawaters garden at their current home. She is hoping to be able to transplant some into her new garden. The kids are already
registered for their new school that starts in a couple more weeks.

During your conversations with the family you are reminded they love the outdoors. Cricket's (Mrs. Leawater) green thumb is quite apparent as evidenced by all the beautiful flowers. Foster (Mr. Leawater) has been looking for a new job in the area but in the mean time has been self employed. Their relocation agent, Esther Rockwell has arranged a house warming party with some of the locals. That should help
Garrett (teen) and Pearl (child) get a head start on some friends before school starts.

IDC #8.4 –Part 4: Inviting Relaxation – Main living area and bonus rooms.
The assignment this week (two weeks actually) will be to design and decorate the main living area and bonus rooms. A nice comfortable area for the family to relax together or entertain a few friends.
A place to enjoy a good book or play a game of chess.
Music for entertaining.
Garrett would love a guitar and someplace to practice.

IDC #8.5 –Part 5: Curb appeal and outdoor living space. Entertainment can spill out into the back yard. A barbecue grill and some outdoor seating would be good.
Using the theme 'Country Charm' create flower gardens and some other landscaping elements to make the home warm and inviting.

CURB APPEAL

The front view of the house is relatively unchanged since the build but we have included some deep purple pansies and other planting to convey the friendly and inviting nature of the home.

THE LIVING ROOM

Essentially the livingroom has the same decor as the previously decorated dining and cooking areas of the room but we decided to give the furnishings a splash of the florals favoured by the family, with a little touch of the French Country farmhouse, in the settee beside the stairs and the coffee tables. Through the archway can be seen the study area that was introduced to the scheme in week 3.

THE BASEMENT/GARDEN ROOM

The basement/garden room has been left relatively plain as it's hoped (weather permitting) that it won't be a room the family feel the need to use too much It's an adaptable and all purpose room that has a little kitchenette area (and a seperate shower and wash room) and we've supplied some gym equipment and entertaining, games equipment for those rainy stuck-inside days.

THE OUTDOOR EATING AREA

The terrace is a perfect place for entertaining...with an outdoor grill and plenty of seating for outdoor dining. We know how much Mrs Leawater loves her flowers so we've given her a veritable plethora of flora and fauna, with the objective of wafting any visitors with their delightful scents and smells...

OUTDOOR RELAXATION

At the other end of the terraced area is a gazebo (provided by the wonderful VitaSims from their Rattan Collection) with seating for sitting and relaxing and reading, away from the main terraces and the house. There is also a pond/pool which can be used for swimming or simply to gaze at the water...

THE GARDEN

As mentioned before, the garden has been copiously planted with flowers and shrubs, both around the sunken terrace and above the retaining wall. But there is also a kitchen garden for Mrs Leawater and a greenhouse (by Shakeshaft at TSR)...where Mrs Leawater will be able to grow hothouse flowers and more exotic vegetables for the family.

I hope you've enjoyed this journey from inspiration to final design...comments are welcomed :)
